Toy Drive for Moore Country Christmas Dec. 11; Be the Light holiday decorating contest underway

We will have a Toy Drive for the Moore Country Christmas event on Saturday, December 11th at the Moore Community Center from 9am to 3pm.

Anyone wishing to drop off toys for this event is invited to stop by. The early decorating for the event is on hold but we will be cleaning up around the outside of the community center that day as well so stay and help us spread the cheer. Light contest sign up opportunity as well that day.
The Moore Community Improvement Club will be holding its 2nd Annual Moore Be the Light Holiday Decorating Contest. Sign up begins December 1st and runs through December 15th. There will be a $10 fee per entry. There will be cash prizes for top three winners. Judging will be held between Dec 19th and December 21st. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our MOORE COUNTRY CHRISTMAS event sponsored by The Moore Community Improvement Club together with the Frio County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, December 18th at the Moore Community Center from 3pm to 9pm! Look for updates next week and schedule of events.
The cookie contest for Moore Country Christmas will be open to all amateur bakers with no entry fee required. Entries are to be submitted to the community center no later than 4pm on December 18th (day of event) with no sign up required. A minimum of three dozen cookies should be submitted in a covered container. Cookies will be judged on Presentation, Taste/Texture and Consistency. Winner will be announced by 5:30 pm before movie starts. Thanks to generous donors, there will be $100 1st place cash prize, $75 2nd place and $25 for 3rd place for the cookie contest.
There has been a Tamale Contest added to the festivities. Anyone interesting in participating must sign up by December 15th. There is no entry fee, one dozen tamales are required to enter contest. They will be judged, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three judges picks. Laura Dominquez is the contact, 210-947-5629.
Time is running out to sign up for a vendor spot! A 10×10 area will be allotted to vendors for small fee of $25. Deadline to sign up is this Friday, December 10th. Contact Laura Dominquez 210-947-5629 or Shelley Delgado 210-889-9350 for details and form. We already have about 12-15 vendors signed up and plenty of room for others….the Moore the merrier. We will have food and goods to browse for some last-minute holiday shopping.
If you are looking to rent the Community Center this holiday season, we still have a few weekends open. Give Claudia a call at 830-267-0322 to reserve your date now and put your deposit down.
We also have a local event being planned for our Moore Seniors. There will be a meal and gifts for those who sign up. December 19th a dinner and gift will be provided for Moore Seniors. Event planners are looking for donations and senior angels. Anyone interested in giving to our awesome senior citizens should contact Laura Dominquez by December 14th.
Reminder: commodities will be distributed Monday, December 13th at 1:30PM at the Moore Community Center. Volunteers always appreciated. Limit 2 families per household and 2 families per vehicle.
