On Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Lytle State Bank was honored as a “Purple Heart Bank” by the Texas State Commander Jon Lunkwicz of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. The purpose is to honor Lytle State Bank for their support to combat wounded veterans, and their families. Lytle State Bank is the first bank in the State of Texas and the nation to receive this honor.
“Lytle VFW Post Commander Larry Sanders and I were talking about LSB being a sponsor for the chili cook-off and Larry mentioned about the City of Lytle having been honored as a Purple Heart City and the VFW Post being honored at the cook-off, so I asked about LSB being a Purple Heart Bank. Larry didn’t know of any, so he contacted the State Commander, who stated that he didn’t know of any, so State Commander Jon Lunkwicz started looking into it.”
“We’ve supported the Lytle VFW over the years, appreciate what they do for our community, and we wanted to know what else we could do to help our veterans with support and recognition. At that point, the conversation came up about being a Purple Heart Bank. This would be a way for Lytle State Bank to support and recognize our combat wounded veterans. A small way of showing that we care and support the sacrifices they have made for our country.”
“Lytle State Bank Board of Directors, Officers, employees and stock holders are all very proud and honored to receive this recognition. We are also in the process of getting a parking space added, and a flag to honor those wounded in combat,” added Mr. Garcia.
