Jubilee Singers of South Texas Christmas concert Dec. 9

The Jubilee Singers of South Texas will present a Christmas concert on December 9, at 7:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Devine. The concert will feature a blend of traditional and non-traditional Christmas music.
The choir was organized as the Jubilee Community Choir in 1998 and has continued as a group dedicated to singing old-time gospel music since its inception. Members of the Jubilee Singers of South Texas hale from areas in and around Devine, Lytle, Natalia, Poteet, Somerset, Atascosa, Moore, and Von Ormy.
Southern Gospel music is the favored genre of the choir’s annual concerts and is reminiscent of such groups as The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, The Chuck Wagon Gang, Stamps Baxter Quartet, and The Bill Gather Singers. This year’s concert represents a break in the tradition of previous concerts.
Practices will resume in January for the 2018 season. All who would like to sing are welcome. Practice is each Monday night from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at First United Methodist Church of Devine. The second Monday night of each month, practice is at First United Methodist Church of Somerset.
Come and enjoy the concert and experience music that symbolizes the true meaning of the Christmas season. Donations of non-perishable food items are requested. Donations will benefit the local food bank. Additionally, a one dollar per person donation, to help offset the choir’s expenses, will be greatly appreciated.
