An earthquake measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale struck the small community of Christine, 12 miles south of Jourdanton, around 5:30 am on Friday, June 1.
It marks the third earthquake in south Texas within the last month. Three earthquakes, ranging from 2.7 to 3.4 on the Richter scale, hit the areas of Poth and Runge in early May.
Poth was also struck by a 3.5 magnitude earthquake in January.
According to the United State Geological Survey’s magnitude and intensity comparison scale, earthquakes between 3.0 and 3.9 are relatively minor but can be noticeable, especially to those on the upper floors of buildings.
