Happy New Year from Lytle PD

The past and final week of 2017 was fairly active for us. Officers filed 49 cases with the municipal court and generated 44 service calls.
Only 2 property crimes were reported last week, a damaged picnic table at John Lott Park and the passing of a fake $50 bill at H.E.B. Plus.
We had two incidents that resulted in three arrests. We cited and released 2 for public intoxication and booked one into jail on a domestic violence incident.
Lt. Dear was busy finishing up his “tire slashing” case from July. He processed 5 juveniles and one adult. The offenses occurred in both Atascosa Co. and Medina Co. parts of the city and involved many victims so the case was fairly complicated. He still has one more juvenile to process and then the case will be forwarded to the appropriate juvenile authorities and prosecutors. Warrants were obtained for the only adult (he had a charge in both counties) and he turned himself in one morning and was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. He bonded out and came back to the PD and turned himself in on the Medina Co. warrant and was booked into the Medina Co. Jail. He really made the rounds that day. This appears to be a case where some good kids just made some bad decisions. Lt. Dear put a lot of hours into this case, I’m sure he will be glad to see it cleared off his desk.
The crime of the week was a robbery that occurred at the Five Points Market on McDonald St. (the old Pico Store). On Tuesday Dec. 26 at about 2:39 PM officers responded for a report that the manager had been robbed. The manager stated she was waiting outside the store for a ride to the bank, an unknown person grabbed her purse and fled into the field behind the store. Her purse contained the proceeds from the long weekend. The case is under investigation.
Rest assured I am prepared to continue my journey into 2018. The entire safety of our community will rest squarely on my shoulders as it has done for the past 18 years. One of my goals for 2018 was to put up new calendars in the police station and I have already conquered that one!
