Thea suffers from Generalized Idiopathic Epilepsy. She must be accompanied every second of her life, which makes it hard for her to start developing her independence. A seizure response dog will help her in all aspects of life.
Thea’s mom, Rebecca has found a facility in Spring Grove,Illinois that specializes in helping Veterans, children with Autism, Aspergers, and Epilepsy. Since 1987, they have been breeding and training West German Shepherds for a variety of special needs.
The owner of this business contacted Rebecca and is trying to get to our fund raiser either this weekend or will schedule in June for our golf tournament. Thea will get to meet her dog and the process will begin. The golf tournament is scheduled June 29th . It takes a village to make it happen. Our church, along with many businesses in Devine have allowed us to post signs in store windows as well donations for this event. With your help we can make this happen.
The silent auction has gathered many items ,including a one year pass for seven people to the San Antonio Zoo, a Buckee’s gift basket, Star War gift basket, Metal Art, tools for guys, quilted throws, paintings, Mother’s Day gifts, and much more.
BBQ tickets are still available at the church door and at Bushel and A Peck. Done Right Cookers will be cooking for this event. They were the guys who cooked for Uvalde during the tragedy at elementary school.
Austin and Rebecca ,Thea’s parents have served in the Army and Austin is still in the reserves.
Thank you for protecting America. Veterans need a little help now and then, so does their precious little girl. With Gods help we can do this.
A special thanks goes out to Devine News who accompanied us on this journey for the past nine years. We also like to thank all the Devine City merchants that allowed us to display our posters for “Gift of Hope” and their support and donations.
Devine is a small community that has a big heart and has shown a willingness to help others in need.
A “Gift of Hope” is a ray of sunshine after a day of gloom. Serving our Lord, Jesus Christ, by serving others.
More about Thea: She had her first seizure at two years old. Thea has both Tonic-Clonic (Grand Mal- loss of consciousness and violent muscle spasms), and absent seizures (brief, sudden lapses in attention). She must be watched very closely while she is showering, playing outside, when watching TV, and many other aspects of her life that “normal” people might take for granted. Thea must be accompanied every second of her life, which makes it hard for her to start developing her independence.
Still, though, Thea told her grandmother, “Mee-Mere [her name for grandma] God really does answer prayers. I’ve been praying for a German Shepherd dog to help me, and God’s going to give me one!”
The dog we are hoping to get is named Luigi, but Thea thinks Princess Peach would be better. That put a smile on our faces. With a seizure dog, Thea will be able to begin doing things on her own, like bathing, playing outside, and working with her chickens without constant, vigilant supervision.
A seizure response dog will help Thea in all aspects of her life. The business we are working with to obtain the dog is Regis Regal in Spring Grove, Illinois. This is a family owned and operated company that has been helping Veterans, children with Autism and Aspergers, and both children and adults battling diabetes epilepsy. Since 1987, they’ve been breeding and training West German Shepherds for a variety of special needs.

Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Matthew 25:40).
We love you, Thea Marie! In memory of Jesse Esch, Joyce Haass, Claudia Carberry, and Bryleigh Shullanberger; and in honor of Becky Gonzales, Cindy Langley, Karlee Riser, and Audrey Capps.
To God alone be the glory.
