Devine ISD hosting human trafficking program April 12

On Thursday, April 12, Devine ISD will host I Am the Change, a human trafficking awareness and prevention program for parents and youth 10 years and up.
Human trafficking in America is NOT what you think: American victims outnumber international victims 10 to 1, the average number of victims per day is 275, and the primary target is girls ages 12-14! All trafficking begins with deception, and the best way to prevent someone from being a victim is to teach them to recognize deception when it happens face-to-face AND online.
During this seminar you will: Learn how traffickers select and approach; Learn what traffickers look for; Learn how to outsmart a trafficker’s deception; Learn what things make youth vulnerable; Learn the 3 kinds of lies traffickers use; Learn the 4 worst choices youth can make.
Devine ISD invites parents, youth, and community members to this informative presentation. Doors will open at the DSAC Cafetorium at 5:30 pm for PIZZA and an opportunity to take an emergency ID photo to help protect your child. Pre-registration will be sent out on School Messenger to help us plan, but is not required for attendance. You can also call one of the campus offices to be sent a link to register. Babysitting will be available for children 2-9 years old and information is part of the pre-registration form. Visit www.thinkfreedomcampaign.org for more information on human trafficking and how it is impacting our youth.
