Devine ISD approves $435,000 in teacher steps, adjustments and raise of 1.5% of midpoints, stipends

Devine ISD Trustees approved the District Salary Schedules, Stipend Schedule, and Employee Compensation Plan for the 2020-2021 School Year as presented by Shannon Ramirez, Director of Finance.
Background Information: DEA (Local) states “The Superintendent shall recommend an annual compensation plan for all District employees. The compensation plan may include wage and salary structures, stipends, benefits, and incentives. The recommended plan shall support District goals for hiring and retaining highly qualified employees. The Board shall review and approve the compensation plan to be used by the District.”
The teacher salary schedule is the same with a starting salary with no experience at $46,420 and 30 steps. A cafeteria manager position was added to the Auxiliary table, a DAEP principal/Truancy Officer was added to the Professional table, and 10 contract days were added to the Director of Student Services.
Budgetary Consideration: The teacher steps, adjustments, and a raise of 1.5% of midpoints on all other tables will cost approximately $ 75,000. The stipends are approximately $360,000.
