Natalia receives top marks on audit, announces filing dates for Nov. election

The City of Natalia received an unmodified opinion on the fiscal year 2018-2019 audit conducted by accounting firm Beyer & Company, news that was delivered during the City Council meeting held on Monday, June 15.
The City also contracted with the Medina County Elections Office for the upcoming municipal election in November and announced filing dates for that election. Council also discussed the City’s contract with Natalia Little League for use of the City-owned fields.
FY 2018-2019 audit
The City’s unmodified opinion is the highest possible opinion that can be awarded in an audit.
City Administrator Lisa Hernandez touted FundView, the City’s new Municipal Court software, for improvements within that department after it was singled out as a material weakness during last year’s audit.
November 2020 election
Council voted to enter into a contract with the Medina County Elections Office for the upcoming municipal General Election scheduled for Tuesday, November 3.
Council seats currently held by Mayor Pro-Tem Sam Smith, Mike Fernandez, and Selica Vera are up for grabs.
The filing period to run for office opens on Monday, July 20, and closes on Monday, August 17.
Natalia Little League
Council chose to keep its current contract with Natalia Little League for use of the City’s baseball and softball fields as-is. The City will pay the fields’ electric bills until the current contract expires at the end of September, when Council has the opportunity to reconsider terms of the contract.
