Bluebonnet Festival slated for end of March

Each year Spring brings wildflowers out and if we are lucky, and had rain at the right times in the fall and winter, the fields will be turned blue by bluebonnets just in time for Natalia’s Bluebonnet Festival.
This year the main event will be on Saturday, March 25th with the parade beginning at 11 a.m. and live music from eight different bands at the Palm Courts from 2 p.m. to midnight in front of the main building. Vendors will be there all day long to the right of the main building. They will be allowed to set up on Friday so they can get started bright and early on Saturday.
Before Saturday and the main events roll around, the carnival is due in town on Thursday, March 23rd and will stay until the 27th. They have promised to bring more rides this year so the kids have more fun to look forward to. They will be located to the left of the main building.
Part of the festival is the competition for the Bluebonnet King and Queen. Sign-ups have already begun for that honor and applications can be downloaded from the festival website www.NataliaBluebonnetFestival.com or can be picked up at the Natalia Veteran’s Memorial Library. To qualify, you must be age 4-18 and live within the Natalia school district. Home schooled children are eligible. The titles of King, Queen, Prince and Princess will go to the candidates with the most votes. Votes are counted as one per 1¢ donation retrieved from jars the families put out around the city.
So mark the date for a fun day in Natalia.
