My week started out without too many problems, other than having to come to Devine on Wednesday rather than on Tuesday, due to the death of a cousin of my Mother’s and since visitation and a rosary were on Tuesday evening, I drove to Devine on the 25th for bunco and have had to stay over due to the death of my cousin, Ernie (Buddy) Kroeger. Driscoll Public Library celebrates Dia de los Muertos
The Driscoll Public Library celebrated Dia de los Muertos the week of Oct. 30.
Library aide Stacy Pyron decorated and set up a community altar on Monday, Oct. 30. Patrons brought pictures and mementos of loved ones who have passed away to place on the altar.
Recently retired Library Director Barbara Moore entertained little ones during Preschool Storytime on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The children wore their Halloween costumes to the library for the special occasion.
A special screening of “The Book of Life,” an animated feature about a bullfighter who embarks on an adventure in the afterlife on the Day of the Dead, was shown Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Second Pot Licker book released
Local artist and author, Gerry Gabeheart, has completed her third book and the second book in the Pot Licker series.

Mustangs muscle win over Stockdale
The Natalia Mustangs came out on top in a battle of two stalwart defenses, beating the Stockdale Brahmas 10-7 last Friday, Oct. 27 to improve to 2-1 in District 15-3A DII and 7-1 overall.
