Lady Pirates, Pirates compete @ FEAST

The Lytle Cross Country teams ran in the massive FEAST Cross Country Invitational last Saturday morning in San Antonio. The Lady Pirates placed 2nd in the 32-team varsity girls division with 181 points. Poth was the team champion with 103 points.
Running in both varsity boy divisions, the Pirates placed 7th in the 44-team open division and 8th in the 33-team 1A-4A division.


Lady Pirates
The Lady Pirates had five runners which is the exact number a school needs to qualify for a team score. Frances Scotello placed 14th out of 271 runners to lead her team in the field of 271 competitors.
Klayre Cook was in the top 25 as she came in 22nd with a time of 12:28. Laleiana Reveira was 49th (13:08), Svetlana Lopez was 55th (13:15), and Vanessa Ayala was 72nd (13:27).
Pirates
In the open division, Johnny Rey Alvarez led the way with his 39th place finish. Alvarez ran 15:45 to finish ahead of teammate Abel Sanchez who placed 55th with a time of 15:53.
Tristan Lopez and Bryan Montes-Rodriguez each cracked the top 100 as Lopez was 71st with a time of 16:05 and Montes-Rodriguez was 76th with a time of 16:14. Yandel Esquivez came in at 133rd (16:50) and Brandon Obando was 144th (16:54).
In the 1A-4A division, all six runners came in pretty close to the top third of the 312-men field. Diego Ryena paced the Pirates by placing 13th with a time of 16:52.
Lucas Salazar was in the top 25 as he placed 21st with a time of 17:02. Nathan Garza and Jaden Castro were each in the top 100 as Garza came in at 95th with a time of 18:43 and Castro was 99th with a time of 18:46.
Kaden Aguinaga (107th-18:56) and Andres Rodriguez (109th-18:58) also competed extremely well.
JV Lady Pirates
Addison Wagner was only five-seconds off a championship performance as she placed 2nd overall out of 107 runners with a time of 13:36.
Annika Robles had a nice run as well as she placed 6th with a time of 14:21. Isabelle Sewell had a top 20 outing as she placed 16th, coming in at 14:58. Avery Sanchez was 63rd (17:07).
