Jordan was born in Freeport, Texas yet grew up in Bellaire, Texas. He began his career in the Oil & Gas Industry and worked in most all disciplines of the industry including on and offshore, Drilling, Completions, Production, and Refining, specializing in Environmental Tank Cleaning. He also spent time with Boots & Coots as a member of the Special Services Team for Oil Well Fires and BlowOuts. He has owned and partnered in several industry related companies specializing in Environmental Tank Cleaning and Safety Management. Jordan was highly regarded and focused the last 15 years of his career as a Certified Safety Manager and Certified Environmental Specialist. He has forged many lifelong friendships over the years and has been a mentor and resource to those wanting to learn from what we call “The School of Jordan Helm.”
However, his work does not come close to describing the husband, father, brother, son in law, brother in law, grandfather, uncle and friend to many he was. He. Loved. Life. He always had friends and family around him, with a meal, a laugh, a hug, & a cocktail. He was an avid outdoorsman and never missed the National Texas Holidays: Opening Dove Season and Opening Weekend of Deer Season. Jordan was a member of the “Best in the West” BBQ cook off team at the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo for many years and was a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, he purchased a Jon Boat and was among the first responders to aide those trapped in their homes. To us and to many, He IS Our HERO.
There is just no way to fully describe how much his presence will be missed in our family. He was smart, funny, loving, kind and generous. He made an impact on each and every one of us and those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will continue to live on through us.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on November 10, 2018 at Hurley Funeral Home in Devine, Texas followed by a “Celebration of Life” event. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a cause near and dear to his heart as his granddaughter is in this wonderful program: A. Robison Elementary School, PPCD Program (Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities), 17100 Robison Woods Rd, Cypress, Tx 77429.
