John Theo “J.T.” Boehme

John Theo “J. T.”Boehme, was born eighty-eight years ago on Christmas Eve, in a pioneer home in Castroville. He passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018 in San Antonio, with his family by his side.
He was the second oldest of four children born to Robert Ferdinand Boehme and Dolphia Evelyn Haby Boehme. In 1948, J.T. graduated from St. Louis High School. After high school, he worked as a butcher at Buddy Bendele’s Meat Market in Rio Medina. He then went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone, working there until he joined the U.S. Army. He served his country in the Army for three years during the Korean War. Following his return home after military service, he returned to work at Southwestern Bell Telephone as a Lineman and Cable Splicer, retiring from there after thirty-six years of employment. He was also a Medina County farmer and rancher until a few years ago.
J.T. was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Louis Men’s Society, St. Louis Church Bereavement Committee, American Legion Weiss-Wurzbach Post 460, Hermann Sons Castroville Lodge #71, Quihi Gun Club, Telephone Pioneers and the Communication Workers of America (CWA).
On April 27, 1957, J.T. married Marjean Haass at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in La Coste. They were blessed with over sixty-one years of marriage and two daughters.
J.T. was preceded in death by his parents, Robert F. and Dolphia Boehme; brother and sister-in-law, Welton (Joanna) Boehme; in-laws, Dorothy Jean Boehme, Glenn (Frances Ann) Haass and Bill (Phyllis) Newsom.
Survivors include his wife, Marjean Boehme of Castroville; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and George Holzhaus of Castroville, Carolyn and Fred Weiblen of Castroville; brother, Clovis Boehme of Castroville; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Wayne Balzen of Pleasanton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November7, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm that evening at St. Louis Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurrection will be Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Louis Catholic Church. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in J.T.’s memory to St. Louis Cemetery Fund, St. Louis Catholic School or the charity of your choice.
