Thompson wins Devine City Council seat

Cory Thompson handily defeated incumbent Hal Lance and fellow challenger Kevin Hicks in the District 5 election last Saturday.
The official results show that Thompson won by a wide margin.

Citizens voice concerns about asbestos levels in City water

The City of Devine has been battling negative perceptions of the water supply since seeing spikes in asbestos levels in 2016.

Refugio Rodriguez, Jr., a representative from the Texas Rural Water Association (TRWA) addressed 14 Devine residents concerned about asbestos levels in the City’s drinking water in a public meeting last Tuesday, May 2.

Union Pacific closes crossing and road to Gusville RV park

A sign declaring the road closed sits in the entrance to Gusville, forcing residents and school buses to use alternative access with limited visibility on CR 7611.

The Medina County ESD 4 Board is considering the possible expansion of the EMS station in Devine.

Campos and Zimmerle qualify for State track meet

Jack Zimmerle threw a personal best of 52’3″ to win shot put and advance to the State meet on May 11. See more photos in our online store!
Arabian Stephanie Campos punched her ticket to State in discus with a throw of 127’4″ which was good enough for 2nd place. The State meet is May 11. Check out more pics in our online gallery!

Devine City Council approves UTSA vision plan, amends budget

While Anderson St. is shown on maps as intersecting with Transportation Dr. and running parallel to Corley Dr., in reality, it is a small patch of pavement that dead ends. The City is taking steps to have Anderson St. removed from maps.

The Devine City Council amended and approved UTSA’s Vision of the Future for downtown Devine, and approved spending over the previously-approved amount of $3,000 for Incode software at the Regular meeting on Tuesday, April 18.

EMS unit stationed in Natalia

One of the two AMR ambulances that covers ESD 4 is now stationed at the Natalia VFD from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm in a bid to decrease response times in that area. The other ambulance will remain stationed out of Devine around the clock.
