As I looked at the date on this column, I realized that exactly three months from now, Christmas not only will have been here, it will be all over but the shouting! The 24th and 25th fall on a Sunday and Monday, yikes…gonna be a tough one, guess I’d better get busy!

End Zone Celebrations…
I ain’t gonna do it….but, there is a lot of interesting news goin on. I would suggest that those who usually get their information from the mainstream media watch Fox once in a while. I know that I heard one reporter call the City of Eagle Pass “Illegal Pass”, but I think it was a slip of the tongue.
36 calls for Service
It looks like our call volume was way down last week, we only had 36 calls for service. I was on vacation, so I missed out on all the “slowness”, just my luck. Officers conducted 91 traffic stops, those stops resulted in 56 citations and 35 warnings.
Friendship Art Club to host Fall Fine Arts and Crafts Show on Sept. 30th
The Lazy Days of Summer are not lazy for the Friendship Art Club. Plans are under way for the Fall Fine Arts and Crafts Show, Saturday, September 30th. The annual show boasts twenty-two indoor booths, in the cool air conditioned Lytle Community Center.

Update on Vaccines
COVID vaccines are out again and currently you can choose between Moderna vaccine or Pfizer vaccine. The bivalent COVID vaccine is no longer available. We had a few people come in asking for it this week. We have moved on to updated COVID vaccines that should provide better coverage for current strains. If you choose to get the vaccine and have insurance or Medicare check with your pharmacy or your doctor’s office for current stock.
Devine Cactus Festival Parade Nov. 4th, sign up entries now
The Devine Chamber of Commerce invites you to participate in the Devine Cactus Festival Parade on Saturday, November 4, 2023. The Parade will being at 10 am and entries will need to be placed by 8:45 am for judging.
The Parade is the kickoff for the 62nd anniversary of the Devine Cactus Festival. The Cactus Festival is graciously hosted by the City of Devine and held each year in the downtown area in and around the Devine Community Center, American Momentum Bank, and many other local businesses. The Cactus Festival boasts a wide variety of live music on two entertainment stages, carnival, 65+ retail vendors, and 15+ food booths.

09/14-Criminal Mischief – Officer on duty responded to a report of a vehicle which had been parked at the same location for at least a month.
09/14-Wanted Person – Officer on duty observed a subject who had an active felony warrant. The subject was stopped, arrested and taken to Medina County Jail for processing of the subject.
