The Lazy Days of Summer are not lazy for the Friendship Art Club. Plans are under way for the Fall Fine Arts and Crafts Show, Saturday, September 30th. The annual show boasts twenty-two indoor booths, in the cool air conditioned Lytle Community Center.
A large variety of arts are available. All crafts and fine arts are original and unique. Applications are currently available, but booths fill fast. The show will also offer the ever-popular student art show, The show features high school and middle school students. Participating school districts are Devine, Natalia, Lytle, Somerset and Medina. Students who participate in the show are frequently scholarship applicants later.
The student scholarship program is funded by the raffle available at the show. Items frequently include original artwork, donated by the participating artists and craftsmen. A wonderful opportunity to win unique artwork and sponsor the scholarship program.
Food trucks will also be available for a convenient lunch for spectators, students and show participants.
The club has its monthly business meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. The meeting starts at 10 am, but plan to come a little earlier to socialize. Further plans for the show will be discussed as well as other club business. The meetings are followed by a program concerning a variety of art topics. A potluck luncheon will follow. All other Tuesday mornings are devoted to actual painting or drawing, as members prepare for exhibits and competitions in the Fall Art Show. New members are always welcome. These Tuesdays are also an ideal time to learn a new art method. All meetings and classes are held at the Lytle Church of Christ.
