William Henry Sharp, Jr.

William Henry Sharp, Jr., of San Antonio passed away July 14, 2021 at the age of 92. He was born August 14, 1928 in Huntsville, Alabama to parents W.H. Sharp, Sr. and Willie Hill Sharp.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Edna Mae Calame Sharp.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many dear friends.
Henry graduated from Huntsville High School and enlisted in the Air Force in 1947. He was stationed in San Antonio for training. While in San Antonio he met Edna Calame and they were married in Devine on September 16, 1950 at the First Baptist Church. After retiring with 20 years of service at the rank of Master Sergeant, Henry was hired by Northside ISD as a purchasing agent for a short time and then moved on to become the Director of Purchasing for USAA, where he remained for the next 20 years before retiring. During that time he went to St. Mary’s University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. After retiring from USAA, he then worked for 16 more years in sales.
Throughout his years Henry was an avid golfer. He volunteered for many organizations over the years as well.
A memorial will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Mission Park Cherry Ridge Funeral Home in San Antonio. Burial will be at Ft. Sam National Cemetery at a later date with military honors.
