What’s new @ the Driscoll Public Library

Wishing you had some help with homework, job search, continuing education or DIY projects. Well, we have just what you need. The Library is a member of TexShare Databases giving all of our patrons access to a plethora of information from educational, legal, medical, genealogy or just for fun. This week we are showcasing a few of the database websites available. To access the databases on your own, visit our online catalog at: https://driscoll.biblionix.com/catalog/once you’re logged in you will see in the left hand corner a highlighted link to TexShare Databases. Click on the link and you can search alphabetically for databases you need or just spend some time taking your chances and exploring new things. If you need additional help accessing these databases give us a call and we will be happy to lead you in the right direction. As a member of TexShare, we have access to 50 databases via EBSCOhost. These databases include thousands of books, magazine articles, images, charts and primary sources that you can access online, from home, or on your phone. You’ll find authoritative articles written by credible authors such as journalists, researchers and subject-matter experts.
TexShare provides members access to four of EBSCO’s Do-It-Yourself Reference Centers: Hobbies & Crafts Reference Center, Home Improvement Reference Center, Small Business Reference Center and Small Engine Repair Reference Center. EBSCO LearningExpress! Provides members access to Learning Express Library Plus which contains resources to help users: improve academic and computer skills; prepare for and excel in college; achieve high school equivalency; explore and prepare for careers.
Academic Search Complete – A comprehensive resource of full-text academic journals, videos, reports and books on dozens of subjects ranging from anthropology, chemistry and culture to law, women studies and zoology.
Master FILE Complete – A multidisciplinary database providing full text for popular magazines, reference books and other highly regarded sources from world leading publishers.
ERIC – Education Resources Information Center – A database providing more than one million records available from the Education Resources Information Center, a robust source of educational literature.
LearningExpress Library – A collection of interactive tutorials, practice tests, articles, flash cards and e-books patrons can use to improve academic skills in reading, writing, math and science as well as prepare for high-stakes exams.
Gale Legal Forms – Provides a wide selection of state-specific (and multi-state) legal forms across the most popular legal areas. It includes real estate contracts, wills, pre-marital agreements, bankruptcy, divorce, landlord tenant and many others.
Gale Chilton Library – ChiltonLibrary.com represents the most authoritative automotive repair information available to car owners. There are thousands of year, make and model combinations covering the most popular vehicles of the past 30 years, plus additional coverage of specialty models.
SciTech Collection– The SciTech Premium Collection includes the Natural Science Collection and the Technology Collection and provides full-text titles from around the world, including scholarly journals, trade and industry journals, magazines, technical reports, conference proceedings, government publications, and more.
HeritageQuest Online – HeritageQuest® Online combines digital, searchable images of U.S. federal census records with the digitized version of the popular ProQuest Genealogy & Local History collection and other valuable content. Powered by Ancestry® with more than 4.4 billion records and coverage dating back to the 1700s.
