Monday, February 18th, the Warhorse baseball team faced off against the Thomas Edison Bears from San Antonio in a pre-district game. Edison took the lead in the top of the second 2-0. Edison scored another run in the top of the third with 1 run for Devine. The Warhorses went on an unanswered 7-run streak in the bottom of the fourth and then a final run in the 7th for the 9-3 win.
Isaiah Oropeza 2 runs, 2 hits, 1 walk. Ralph Rios 1 RBI, 1 walk. Newt Crouch 1 run, 1 RBI, 1 walk. Brady Harrell 1 run, 1 hit, 1 RBI. Gehrig Runyan 1 run, 1 hit, 1 RBI. Joseph Guajardo 1 run, 1 hit, 2 RBIs. Blaine Miller 1 run, 1 walk. Joey Seguin 1 run. Pitching: Barron 40 total pitches with 18 strikes. Oropeza 31 total pitches with 22 strikes. Runyan 5 strikes in 5 pitches.
Here is the fourth inning: With Harrell and Runyan on base, Guajardo singles and then makes it to second on an overthrown ball while Harrell and Runyan score. Miller walks and Oropeza walks to load the bases with Guajardo. Rios walks forcing home a run. Crouch is walked and Miller scores on loaded bases. Barron and Lawson strike out for the first two outs. Bases still loaded and Harrell is hit by a pitch to force in a run by Oropeza. Runyan singled on a line drive and Crouch scores. Final out of the inning came from Miller with a ground ball. Devine up 8-3 and would score 1 run in the seventh for the 8-3 win.
