The Devine Warhorse Cross Country team finished 5th at Devine Golf Course last Wednesday afternoon in the rescheduled meet from a previous rainout. Xavier Garza led the Warhorses finishing 8th overall with a time of 17:23.3.
Christian Osorio (16th-18:38.3), Ismael Vera (18th-18:48.2), Zackariuh Bocanegra (20th-18:55.5), Chris Ortiz (27th-19:38.9), and Weston Byrd (36th-20:37.1) rounded out the Warhorse places and times.
“The Varsity Horses came out with the mindset to prove that we are a contending team in the district standings,” Head Coach Khera Vay said. “We did just that by finishing only 8 points behind a strong Hondo team. We still have some work to do, but I think when district rolls around we will be ready to make a statement and earn a trip to the regional meet on October 22nd.”
