Warhorse team, Isaiah Morin District Champs; Aguirre, Mendoza, Ortiz, & Espinosa place top 10

The District 29-4A individual champion is Isaiah Morin from Devine. He and his fellow Warhorse Cross Country teammates won the team championship as well at Devine Golf Club last Thursday morning. The Warhorses scored 22 points to beat runner-up Fox Tech who had 53 points.
Morin ran an 18:01 to knock out second place finisher Malachi Bennett of Somerset who ran 18:08. The two were neck and neck for most of the three-mile competition before Morin pulled away late to win the individual championship.
Kris Aguirre ran his best race of the season by far as he left the course with a bronze medal. Thomas Mendoza placed fourth and Chris Ortiz came in fifth. Marcus Espinosa was the other top 10 finisher at tenth place.

Jesse House was only eight-seconds from top ten as he came soon after Espinosa in twelfth place. Freshman Taylor Hurst rounded out the seven Warhorse competitors coming in eighteenth overall.
Stephen Culver led the Warhorse JV. Culver placed third overall with a 21:19 while teammate Corwin Flores was fifth at 22:24.
