The Arabian Varsity played against the Bandera Lady Bulldogs this past Tuesday and won in 4 sets; 25-7, 20-25, 25-13, 25-11
“We came out and played really well in the first set,” Coach Leigh Ann McIver said. “We really controlled the ball when it was on our side of the net. In the second set we self-destructed, but in sets 3 and 4 we played our game and was able to take care of business.”
Leading in kills was Sierra Pompa with 20, next was Chesney Friesenhahn with 11, then Addie Trojanowski with 10, and finally Dana Aaron, Alissa Stehle, and Makenna Morales each with 1. The Arabians scored a total of 9 aces: Sydney Rendon 2; Trojanowski 3; and Friesenhahn 4. They were also able to score 4 blocks off of the Lady Bulldogs, Friesenhahn had 3 and Aaron with 1.
Defensively, they had 67 digs: Morales 30; Rendon 9; Trojanowski 7; Friesenhahn 6; Puente 5; Pompa and Julie Ortiz each with 3; Stehle 2; Aaron and Caimee Fowler each with 1. There were 41 assists: Trojanowski 28; Rendon 7; and Morales 6.
“Going in to play Bandera we knew we were going to have to play with a lot of intensity and play together,” Trojanowski said. “Getting the win was a big step in our journey to state!”
