Three Arabians take top honors on All-District team

With basketball season over, the All-District team has been released and Devine takes three of the top honors.
Senior Macey Hein won MVP after another amazing season in the Arabian uniform. Hein was selected the district MVP unanimously! She had a great season and led us in most statistical categories! Hein was a leader of our team and she was a difference maker on the floor! She was dynamic and explosive on the offensive end and she could also affect the defensive end of the floor as well. It was nice to see the district coaches award her this honor.
Lacey Shook received Co-Defensive MVP of the district. This was an awesome accomplishment. Shook really took pride in guarding the opposing teams’ best offensive guard. She worked hard on the defensive end of the floor and really made an impact on our team!! Her offense came to life late in the season and that really made her a threat in the playoffs! I was super happy that Lacey was rewarded by the district coaches for her role defensively this season.
Liah Romero was selected as Co-Newcomer of the Year in the district. This was an awesome honor for her as it showed how hard she worked on her game during the year. Romero was an outstanding rebounder for us and she played great defense in the post for us. She was a physical presence and she made an impact when on the floor! I was happy that Liah received this award.
Yessika Gaza and Kaydi Yeats were selected as 1st team all-district players. This was much deserved by each young lady! Garza was our energy and heartbeat! She set the time for us this season! She was a dynamic rebounder and she was always making things happen on the floor for us! Yeats was a solid player for us this season as well. She was often the player that was helping on defense and she made some big shots for us from behind the 3 point line this season. Yeats fought through some injuries and played a big part for us this season.
Denise Contreras and Mackayla Schnautz were voted to the 2nd team for all district honors. Both young ladies really worked hard this season and improved in so many ways. Contreras played every position on the floor for us and could guard everyone from guard to post. She often played both roles for us on offensive as well. She was a utility player that played whatever role we needed her to play! Schnautz really came into her own late in the season. She took advantage of the opportunities she received and was ready when her number was called. She worked hard all season and continued to improve her game and provided a physical presence in the post. She rebounded well and she played good defense. I am really looking forward to what these two young ladies will do going forward.
Kendall Marek was selected as Honorable Mention All-District. Marek faced some adversity this season, but she battled back to finish the year strong. She never gave up and she ended the season strong.
