Sandra Lea Douglas Garrow, of Castroville, passed away at her home on March 13, 2020 at the age of 70 years. She was born February 20, 1950 in Fort Richardson, Alaska one of three children born to Jack Donald Douglas and Doris June Medley Douglas.
Sandra was born into a military family, so she grew accustomed to the many frequent moves her family made while her father served in the United States Air Force. The Douglas family moved to San Antonio while her father was stationed at Kelly Air Force Base. Her father retired from the Air Force and began his second career in Civil Service. Sandra attended the remainder of her school years in San Antonio and graduated from Oliver Wendell Holmes High School in 1968.
On February 3, 1989, she married SFC Douglas Paul Garrow (U.S. Army, retired) in San Antonio. Sandra and Douglas recently celebrated their thirty-first anniversary.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Paul Garrow of Castroville; daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Jim Roos of Friendswood; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Garrow of San Antonio; grandchildren, Cristian Roos (Katie Trangsrud), Jackson Roos, Maylyn Garrow, Raymond Garrow, Jr. and Ronnie Garrow; sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Mark Jackson of Castroville; in; laws, Mildred and John High of Wilson, New York, Linda Garrow of Niagra Falls, New York; niece, Ashley Douglas; nephews, Bryan Jackson, Kyle Douglas and Stanley Garrow; great nephew, Brandon Jackson.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Doris Douglas and her stepson, Raymond Garrow, Sr.; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Barbara Douglas.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service held that evening at 6:30 pm. The Committal Service and Interment will be held Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 10:45 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #5, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
Memorials may be made in Sandra’s memory to Trinity Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.
