John Howard Ohlhausen

John Howard Ohlhausen, of Hondo, passed away on March 13, 2020 at the age of 59 years. He was born December19, 1960 in San Antonio, Texas to Elmon Ohlhausen and Alice Hasler Ohlhausen.
John graduated from Lytle High School in 1979. He received both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio. John worked at Brooks Air Force Base as a general contractor, designing G-Suits for Air Force pilots and astronauts. John was the manager of mechanical engineering at Medina Electric Cooperative until recently when he was no longer able to work.
On June 8, 1985, John married his high school sweetheart, Melany Moody,at the First Baptist Church of Lytle. They were married thirty-four years and were blessed with one daughter.
Survivors include his wife, Melany Ohlhausen of Hondo; daughter, Rylee Ohlhausen of Hondo; siblings, Sam Ohlhausen of Devine, Ila Mae Ohlhausen of Lytle, Danny Ohlhausen of Lytle, Don Ohlhausen of Somerset, Norma Stevens (Robert) of Somerset, May Young (Jay) of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Melody Muennink (Ronnie) of Hondo and brother-in-law, Harold Draper (Karyn) of Azle.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Elmon and Alice Ohlhausen; brother, Ben Ohlhausen; sister, Alice Ohlhausen; sister-in-law, Leah Ohlhausen and in-laws, Bob and Mildred Moody.
John was a true servant. In his life he served as a Praise Leader, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. John volunteered in the community as a little league coach, HABA member and South Texas Ramp project builder. His whole life was devoted to God, family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 17, 2020 starting at 9:00 am at New Fountain United Methodist Church, with the Funeral Service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at New Fountain Cemetery in New Fountain, Texas.
Memorials may be made in John’s memory to the New Fountain United Methodist Memorial Funds.
