Runyan chosen as volleyball MVP, Wofford Newcomer of the Year

The Varsity Arabians ended another impressive season as District Co-Champs with Hondo. Coach Leigh Ann McIver led her team to a 6-2 district record and 14-25 overall. With the season over, district awards have been earned and Devine brought home eight honors including MVP and Newcomer of the Year.
Junior Megan Runyan was named District 29 MVP after 256 kills, 10 aces, 17 blocks, and 320 digs. Senior Janaee Wofford was named Newcomer of the Year for District 29. Wofford earned 73 kills, 34 aces, and 445 digs.
Macey Hein, Madison Pike, and Gabby Rodriguez were named to the District 1st team. Playing as the team’s setter, Hein assisted her team 796 times this season as well as earing 82 kills, 55 aces, and 433 digs. Middle Hitter, Pike, killed the ball 155 times and blocked it 56. Rodrigues played Libero for the Arabians and racked up 476 serve receptions, 529 digs, and 21 aces.
Named to the District 2nd team was Myla Miles, Bailey Oropeza, and Leah Herrera. Senior Miles top stats include 47 aces, 293 digs, and 286 serve receptions. Freshman Oropeza earned 147 kills and 194 digs. Senior Herrera had 20 aces this season.
Named to the Academic All District were Aleyna Gerlach, Macey Hein, Leah Herrera, Myla Miles, Destiny Moralez, Bailey Oropeza, Madison Pike, Jasmine Pompa, Megan Runyan, and Allison Stevens.
