Pirates District 27-3A Champions; Regional Meet in Corpus is next

The Lytle Pirates captured the 27-3A district championship flag early last week in Poth. The Pirates smashed the rest of the competition by scoring 19 points over runner-up Natalia. Lytle travels to Corpus Christi for the Regional Meet on November 9where the top ten individuals on a non-advancing team and the top three teams will move on to Round Rock to run at the state competition.
Lytle Head Coach Gilbert Ruiz has high expectations of his talented team as they enter the biggest race of their season.
“The boy’s title wasn’t as dramatic as the girls, but one thing it did show is that we are not where we need to be,” Head Coach Gilbert Ruiz said. “But, they got the job done and bought themselves two more weeks to get ready for a chance to advance once more. This group has won three straight district titles and had fifth place in the top 10, as JC Hernandez, Robert Wagner, Jose Cortez, Gregorio Alcorta, and Kyle Mueller all medaled. Their goals are much higher and hopefully we can stay healthy long enough to reach them.”
Congrats to the Pirates and best of luck in Corpus Christi.
