This past Thursday, the Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Jourdanton to participate in a tournament. Our athletes played well and brought home the hardware to prove it!
The Girls Doubles of Cambri Davila and Lola Patino continue to make runs and improve in their competitive play. They competed for 3rd place, but in the end lost a close match of 6-4, 5-7 and lost 8-10 in a tiebreaker against Poteet. It was a tough loss, but a great experience and great to watch these ladies battle it out. The outcome was not what we wanted, but the experience was immeasurable.
The Boys Doubles continue to rack up the wins. They finished at the top of the bracket, again in the main draw against Jourdanton, Beeville, and Poteet. They are playing very well heading into a long tournament against some great teams in Uvalde.
The Boys Single, Zachary Bradshaw, continues to play very well and finished at the top of the main draw. Zach had a bye in his first round but stayed active cheering on his teammates throughout the tournament. He settled down and won his matches in a definitive fashion against his two opponents; Beeville 6-0, 6-0, Jourdanton 6-0, 6-1.
Our whole varsity team is looking to go farther this year than ever before. Both sides of Singles and Doubles are playing some great tennis right now. We hope to continue this push into District, Regional, and possibly State!
We will head to Uvalde with the JV competing March 24th and 26th and the Varsity will play on March 25th and 26th.
