At the Poth Relays last Friday, the Jr High Lady Pirates competed well, and the 7th grade team took 6th place while the 8th grade girls won second! The teams will head to Dilley tomorrow, March 10th, and then on March 25th, they will compete at district in Poth.
“Our 7th grade girls are starting to get the hang of how a track meet works, and our 8th grade girls are starting to settle and remember from last year. The 7th grade girls finished 6th overall but we had some great running. Our 8th grade girls did a great job and finished the meet in 2nd place. A special shout out to Mrs. Reyna!! She was so gracious to travel with me and help with the girls,” said Coach Shelley Armentrout.
7th Grade Girls Results: Long Jump – Julia Alvarez – 6th . 2400 m run – Laleina Rivera – 2nd, Addison Wagner – 6th, Neveah Kassin – 7th. 400 m Relay – Haley Watson, Vanessa Ayala, Julyana Frausto, and Laleina Rivera – 3rd. 800 m run – Laleina Rivera – 2nd. 100 m hurdles – Genesis Fonseca. 800 m relay – Mari Guerrero, Jackie Aguirre, Claire Canales, Moriah Rodriguez – 5th. 1600 m relay – Cayleigh Smith, Haley Watson, Julia Alvarez, Jackie Aguirre – 4th. 300 m hurdles – Genesis Fonseca 5th, Cayleigh Smith 6th. 1600 m run – Vanessa Ayala 5th.
