No arrests

We are closing in on July. To me, the last several months seem like a blur. Our office stayed busy with calls for service (64 last week) but we didn’t have much actual “crime” stuff to work on.
We made no arrests and took three low-level crime reports. Number 1: Patriot Gas (the old Lytle Feed & Seed) reported graffiti on a shed door. Number 2: Dollar General reported a shoplifter, we aren’t sure what the lady took. Number 3: Good old fashioned “beer run” at Yum Market (old Valero), a masked fellow got away with 3 18-packs of beer.
The Bexar Co. Sheriff’s Office made an arrest and recovered one of our stolen handguns. The weapon was reported stolen from Brown’s Tackle and Gun back on June 6, 2020. We are awaiting a report with more details. That stolen gun didn’t stay on the street for too long.
Cpl. Danny Robison, our business liaison officer, made the rounds last week and visited 41 businesses. Mostly just checking in and seeing if anything was going on that we could help with.
On a more serious note…..Capt. Reyes responded to a call for a suicidal person, the person had a handgun. Fortunately, he was able to get the person the help they needed and nobody got hurt. Our officers face some serious situations, thank God this situation didn’t result in a tragedy.
The Lytle Chamber of Commerce, with the support of the City of Lytle, will be hosting a Farmer’s Market this Saturday (June 27, 2020). This is the first of what they hope will be a monthly event. It will be held at 19260 McDonald Street, next to O’Reilly Auto Parts. The event starts at 8 AM and will wrap up at 1 PM. I am being told they expect to have 6-8 vendors and will be practicing social distancing. I can’t remember the last time we had something like that here in town. I plan on stopping by, my wife can do some shopping for fresh produce and I’ll walk over to Sonic and get a chili cheese dog. That’s more my style.
