All Natalia ISD employees have a one-time, $1,000 stipend to look forward to in December.
The Natalia ISD School Board approved the stipend, as well as the $95,011 budget amendment to pay for it, during the meeting on November 9.
A one-time $500 stipend for all employees was already part of the Board-approved budget for the current fiscal year.
Interim Superintendent Dr. Lana Collavo met with Executive Director of Finance Norma Friddle to make sure the budget amendment was financially feasible before recommending it to the Board.
“I have watched our staff work so hard and struggle,” Collavo said. “They come in on nights and weekends to get things done and address some of the situations that COVID has caused.”
A motion by Paul Almendarez and Secretary Gordon Gentry to increase the one-time stipend for all employees to $1,000 passed unanimously.
A motion by President Eric Smith and Vice President Tiffany Rodriguez to approve the necessary budget amendment also passed unanimously.
Board members Andrew Besa, Fernando Garza, and Mireya Vanderslice were all present at the meeting.
