Natalie Williams and Jose Cortez, qualify individually as well as lead their teams to STATE CC Meet

Clarification-Natalie Williams finished 6th at the Regional Cross Country meet as reported in the top 21 individual stats with a time of 13:02 in last week’s Devine News. She was listed incorrectly as 16th in the story by accident. According to Lytle CC Coach Ruiz, this makes her only the 3rd girl in Lady Pirate history to individually qualify for state! What an awesome feat! See this week’s story for more details.
We apologize for the typographical error. To qualify to State individually is hard to do and a huge accomplishment!! And to lead a team there is even more fun. Congratulations to Natalia Williams and team for working hard enough to get to State. We are proud of you and look forward to State.
Pirate Jose Cortez individually qualified for State also, and made history as the first Pirate runner to represent the Lytle Pirates at the State Meet in each of his four years of varsity competition!
Congratulations to both Williams and Cortez, the individual qualifiers, and their teams. We are proud of you all. Good Luck at STATE!
I was a cross country runner, many years ago, when it first started in this area in the 80s. I realize what a big deal it is to qualify for State, individually, as well as to get enough dedicated to go as a team as well. It is not an easy task.
Congratulations to all!
