Mustangs take on Marion in first game

The Mustangs barely had time to change uniforms after their last football game before their first basketball game. They took on Marion on November 22nd and it was a tough first game for most of the team.
“Marion is a really good team and they came ready to play. Most of our guys played a football game less than 48 hours from the start of this game and with only a two hour practice leading up to this we struggled on both ends of the floor. We will get back to work and try to fix the things that we struggled with and get ready for a busy week of basketball,” said Coach Justin Welsh.
Natalia was ready for the game knowing it would be a challenge and after the first quarter ended 8-24, the boys knew they had more work ahead of them. With no players fouling out, the Mustangs played hard and put into play what they practiced. Natalia ended the game 23-89 and know they will have to work harder to get into shape for district.

This weekend they will have a chance to see one or two of their district opponents at the Jourdanton tournament. Their next home game is also the district opener against Lytle on December 14th. The JV is scheduled to play at 5pm and Varsity at 7:30.
