Mustangs, Lady Mustangs at Round Rock, Part 1

Natalia Head Cross Country coach Kim Lane took her Mustang and Lady Mustang runners to Round Rock last Friday to participate in a state preview type meet at the McNeil Invitational. The site of last week’s meet is the same site as State on November 5th.
Noah Gilkey finished third overall out of a field of 160 runners. Gilkey’s 17:18 5K bronze medal time was behind 1A-3A champion Nathan Evans of Cameron Yoe who ran a 16:44 and Tate Comier of Mertzon Irion County who clocked in at 16:48.
Devin Chapa placed 57th with a 19:53, while Logan Chapa was 65th with a 20:15 and Daniel Tristan at 20:43.
Lady Mustang Tyli Ventimiglia was the lone varsity participant. Ventimiglia placed 132nd of 142 competitors with a 17:44.
For the Mustang JV, Joseph Gonzalez led the team at 31st place with a 21:56 time. Gianni Rios was next at 51st in 23:31. Kevin Ray, 63rd at 25:14, and Josue Degollado, 73rd and 23:27, also competed.
Jasmine Riso competed as the only JV Lady Mustang. Riso placed 81st with a 23:27.
