Moore Community Improvement Club challenges residents to BE THE LIGHT

Members of the Moore Community Improvement Club gathered to prepare turkey dinner for elderly residents and the sheriff’s department as a thank you for services rendered.

A big thank you to all the volunteers who helped cook, package, and deliver to our local wonderful seniors. Over 60 turkey plates were prepared for our elderly community to let them know we are appreciative for what they have done for our community in the past. We sent the leftover turkey and fixings to the Frio County Sherriff’s department to show our thanks for them as well.
With the Christmas season right around the corner the Moore Community Improvement Club is challenging all residents to participate in BE THE LIGHT, a holiday decorating event guaranteed to boost your holiday spirits and provide our community with a COVID friendly celebration. A prize in the amount of $100 and bragging rights for the first winner of the First Annual Moore Christmas Light Contest is on the line. Gather your yard and outside home decorations and let us light up the town. There is a $10 entry fee per residence, and this must be paid no later than Tuesday, December 15th to qualify for the contest. There is a form which must be filled out and returned along with the $10 entry fee. The forms will be available, and the $10 fee can be paid at the Moore Community Center December 2nd before and after our monthly meeting between 6-8pm. We will also be available December 12th from 11am to 1pm and forms will be available with our officers and at the Lil Shack. Absolutely no late entry fees will be accepted, and the form must be filled out with all the correct information. The judging will take place between December 20th and December 22nd, subject to changes but contestants will be notified. We will announce the winner on December 23rd. Updates will be posted to the Facebook page as well as the newspaper.
The Moore Senior Box distribution is still taking applications for monthly distribution. Anyone wishing to sign up can call 830-931-1740 for information. Additionally, anyone wishing to receive commodities should call 830-931-1740 to be added to the list.
The next meeting for the Moore Community Improvement Club is Wednesday, December 2nd at 7pm. We will be recapping the Thanksgiving plate event and discussing the events for the Holiday season further. Remember Moore Community Center is available for rent for the holidays. Let us keep improving our community by moving forward safely together!
