Devine Masonic Lodge 590 presented its Community Builder Award on July 10 to Daniel Bowyer, which is presented to a non-Mason citizen of Devine that contributes to the community above and beyond in an attempt to make our town a better place for all.

This year’s award went to Daniel Bowyer, thanks to him, and his company, Bowyer Tree Service, he with his crews have donated many man hours to Mission Devine and other needing causes in an attempt to make our community a better place to live.
Devine Masonic Lodge 590 also presented its annual Mirabeau B. Lamar Award on July 10th. The Mirabeau B Lamar is an award that the Masonic Lodge presents to a deserving student(s) of Devine and Natalia High Schools that has shown great achievement and demonstrate high moral character, values, and personal attributes consistent with those promoted by the Grand Lodge of Texas. It is named after the 2nd President of the Republic of Texas, Mirabeau Lamar, who earned the title of “Father of Education in Texas” for his role in the establishment of the public school system. The 2020 and 2021 awards were presented to Pauline Calame and Jamie Courtade of Devine High School and Sabrina Ramon and Hailey Manka of Natalia High School. Additional recipients that were not able to attend the ceremony are Jayce Hackabeil, Kelsey Archie, Isiah Oropeza, and Jacob Barron, all from Devine High School. Along with the Lamar Award, these students also received a scholarship in the amount of $1500 from Devine Masonic Lodge and the Grand Lodge of Texas. Devine Masonic Lodge 590 would like to thank all of the recipients and their families that were able to make it to the ceremony and wishes the best for all the recipients and their futures. Masons are known for supporting charities, and in fact they contribute $1 million dollars to charities every day!
