Lytle ISD schedules graduation for June 5

Lytle ISD Superintendent Michelle Smith confirmed in her weekly video message posted May 11 that the district will host an in-person commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Friday, June 5 at Walter H. Joyce, Jr. Stadium.

“It will be an invitation-only event,” Smith said. “However, it will be livestreamed for everyone to watch.”

More information will be available in the coming weeks.

Lytle’s last day of school is Friday, May 22, but Smith said summer school is on hold.

“We feel students and parents need a break from remote instruction, so we are going to wait until later in the summer to see if there is a possibility of in-person summer school,” Smith said.

The 2020-2021 academic calendar has been approved and is available to view on the Lytle ISD website. The first day of school for students is Monday, August 17.

Smith said the district is planning for the worst but hoping for the best.

“Please remember to do your part to limit the spread of COVID-19 so we can get back to the routines we know and start school on time,” Smith said.
