Lytle Homecoming 2021

Last Friday, the Varsity Pirate Football team took on the Cotulla Cowboys in the final game of the season.
It was a good game, and “Offensive standouts include Junior RB/LB Deven Caldera, who rushed for 58 yards on 22 carries and a rushing touchdown, and Junior QB Connor Martin, who scored two rushing touchdowns in his first start of the season,” Coach Trevino said.
“Defensive standouts include RB/LB Deven Caldera, who led the team in tackles (6 Solos, 2 Assists, 1 Forced Fumble). In addition, Junior RB/DB Albert Aguilar (4 Solos, 1 Assist, 1 Forced Fumble, 1 Fumble Recovery) and Senior DL Joshua Del Toro (4 Solos, 2 Assists, 1 Fumble Recovery) also had solid performances.”
“Our Pirates did a great job of competing, and although it was not the outcome we wanted, there is no doubt that all our players ‘left it all out on the field.'”
The Final Score was Lytle 23, Cotulla 29.
“On behalf of our staff and players, I want to sincerely thank our Pirate Family for all the support that we have received throughout the season. We also want to thank our Pirate Football Senior class for all the hard work and dedication that they have given to the Pirate Football program.
“As we transition into the off season, our coaching staff and players are looking forward to our first, full off-season together. We look forward to welcoming back 18 letterman/starters for the 2022 season. We have had great success at our sub varsity levels and, with the help and support of our administration, faculty, and staff, our program achieved a 99% academic passing rate this season. This is a testament to our focus on academic achievement, as well as athletic achievement. The future is bright, and our staff and players look forward to building a successful brand that is built to last. Thank you again, Pirate Nation.”
