Lady Pirate basketball team starts strong

The Lady Pirates basketball team has taken on two teams in scrimmages this year. They took on Uvalde on October 30th and racked up an impressive 66 points. When they faced Pearsall they scored 10 against the Mavericks. The Lady Pirates are once again led by Coach Lori Wilson.
With only three returning starters from last season, Lytle will be putting together a strong but young team. Returning starters from last season are Sophomore Calyssa Sevier, Junior Cadee Martinez, and Junior Fizz Hutton. “We only have two seniors so this group is young and going to be fun to watch! We still have a few that need to get into better shape with the amount of pressing they are expected to execute,” said Coach Wilson.
Lytle will take on SA Christian at home this Friday and be in Devine on Tuesday. Their first tournament will be November 18-20th at Southside. Right now they are scheduled to play Thursday against Del Rio at 11:30, Southside at 5:30. Friday they will start at 11”30 against Memorial and then 2:30 against Uvalde. Saturday’s bracket play will depend on how those games turn out.
