Lynroe Allen Tschirhart, 82, passed away on September 6, 2017. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 1, 1935, and raised in Castroville, Texas. Lynroe graduated from St. Louis High School in 1953, and graduated with a BBA from St. Mary’s University in 1957. Lynroe served in the United States Army for 8 years, on active duty and in the reserves, holding the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Lynroe was an avid and talented baseball player, playing as a 3rd baseman for decades. He played baseball for St. Louis High School and was on the team that won the state championship during his sophomore year. He also played at St. Mary’s University on a baseball scholarship, the Highway 90 league, and on winning teams of several different San Antonio softball leagues. He was an active member of St. Gregory the Great Parish for 53 years, and served in many volunteer positions for the church.
Lynroe was a successful salesman in the food industry until his retirement. Lynroe liked sports, fishing, travel, and having a good time. He enjoyed playing cards with his poker buddies over an 18-year period, and was a proud member of the AAHA bunch.
Lynroe was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Tschirhart and Mary “Maudie” Holzhaus Tschirhart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary “Kotsy” Rihn Tschirhart; children, Terry, Chris, Carl and Shelly Tschirhart; grandchildren, Dalton, Stephanie, Paul and Brian Tschirhart; brother, Robert Tschirhart and wife Annette and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held Sunday, September 10, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at the Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville, and again on Monday, September 11 starting at 8:30 am at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 700 Dewhurst, San Antonio. The Rosary was recited at 9:30 am on Monday, September 11 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, with the Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 am. Interment followed the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery in Castroville with military honors. A reception was held following interment at the Braden Keller Center in Castroville.
