Incumbent Steve Lopez narrowly defeated challenger Kristabel Aguero in the special election held for the Devine City Council District 2 position on Tuesday, May 18.
Unofficial counts show that Lopez received 41 votes to Aguero’s 38 to retain his seat on the Council.
Voter turnout increased for the special election, after both candidates garnered 25 votes in the initial election on May 4.
Totals are unofficial until the votes are canvassed.
