The JV Warhorses beat the JV Mavericks 50-42. Making 8 of their 9 free throws helped with this win. Being able to make free throws count is an important tool in the belt, especially in district. The Warhorses controlled the game leading 12-9 at the end of the first and finished the half 28-17. Coming out strong in the third, the Warhorses continued to extend their lead. In the fourth, the core gap closed a little but the Warhorses still maintained their lead for the win.
“Andrew Perez had his best game. He was aggressive on defense, he rebounded well, and he finished his shots,” said Coach Evan Eads. Perez scored 16 points.
Damien Martinez scored 13 points and made 4 of 4 free throws. Mason Burford scored 11 points, Sergio Martinez 6 points and Jose Dozal scored 4 points.
