The JV Warhorses had a high scoring night against Pearsall on March 26th in the 12-6 win. Justin Contreras threw 34 strikes in 68 pitches and Evan Priest threw 18 strikes in 34 pitches, together only allowing 6 hits.
First inning down 0-1, one out, Eliseo Perez walked, then stole second with Contreras at bat, he then hit a single and Perez scored. Christian Gerlach walked, Darren Lafferty struck out, and Jacob Barron singled to right allowing Contreras and Gerlach to cross home. Bottom of the third, two outs, and bases loaded, Mason Burford walked forcing home Contreras. Zack Alvarez singled to first and Elia Ghisellini scored. Xsavior Martinez hit a pop fly for a double and Burford and Alvarez made it home. With Perez at bat, Martinez stole home. Perez stuck out to end the inning 9-2.
Bottom of the fourth inning, 1 out, Contreras and Gerlach on base, Jacob Barron ground out to second but Contreras made it home. Bottom of the fifth, Isaiah Romero singled to short, Alvarez ground out, and then Martinez double to center and Romero scored. Priest popped out to the catcher. Contreras single to second and Martinez scored the last run of the night. Devine won 12-6.
Martinez 2 runs, 2 hits, 3 RBIs. Perez 1 run. Contreras 3 runs, 4 hits, 2 RHIs. Gerlach 1 runs, 1 hit. Barron 1 run, 2 hits, 3 RBIs. Burford 1 run, 1 RBI. Romero 1 run, 1 hit, 2 RBIs. Ghisellini 1 run.
The JV Warhorses are 11-2 overall and 3-0 in district with five games left. They will play in Carrizo Springs Friday night, at home against Crystal City April 12th, in Pearsall April 16th, at SA Wagner April 19th, and then in Hondo April 23rd.
