JV track and field opens season in Frio County

The Natalia Junior Varsity Track and Field teams competed in Pearsall last Thursday night in their opening meet of 2019. The Natalia JV Mustangs were able to combine for a 2nd place team finish with 99 points, trailing meet champion Crystal City (149 points). On the girls side of things, the numbers were a bit lighter as one Lady Mustang was able to finish with medals in two different events.
JV Mustangs- As mentioned, Natalia finished in 2nd place behind Crystal City but was able to edge Carrizo Springs (93), Pearsall (63), Dilley (60), Cotulla (50), Antonian (48) and Pearsall White (14).

200 M. Dash: Felix Iniguez 4th place-25.43. 400 M. Dash: Donovan Hawkins 2nd place-55.46, Coltin Richardson 5th place-58.28. 4X100 M. Relay: Natalia’s Nate Banda, Felix Iniguez, Adrian Vasquez and Ryan Rizo 2nd place-47.87. 4X200 M. Relay: Banda, Iniguez, Rizo and Vasquez 1st place-1:42.62. 4X400 M. Relay: Richardson, Enrique Deosio, Hawkins and Arturo Zapata 1st place-3:54.21. Long Jump: Rizo 4th place- 15’9 1/2”, Landon McDole 6th place-15’4”. Shot Put: Paul Billalobos 3rd place-34’7”. Discus: Nicholas Vasquez 3rd place-95’10”, Billalobos 4th place-94’4”. High Jump: Richardson 2nd place-5’3”.
JV Lady Mustangs: Natalia JV Lady Mustang Bailey Boucher was able to place in the 1600 M. Run and in the Shot Put. She finished in 6th place in the 1600 M. Run with a time of 7:58.90 before finishing in 6th place in the Shot Put with a throw of 23’8 1/2”.
Natalia travels to the Tri County Meet in Jourdanton next Friday, February 22nd.
