JV Lady Pirates split games with Karnes City and Poth

In a defensive battle, the JV Lady Pirates took on Karnes City on January 12th. With a final score of 22-20, the Lady Pirates squeaked out the win!
“The Lady Pirates held Karnes City to just two points in the second quarter, and two pts in the fourth quarter. The Pirates trailed most of the game before getting the score even at 18. With three seconds left in the 4th quarter, Kaylee Diaz gets fouled. Kaylee, steps to the free throw line and sinks both free throws to help win the game for her teammates,” said Coach Ivan Mason
When they faced Poth on Friday it was a different story. The Poth Pirates were also undefeated going into this game and both teams wanted to keep their undefeated record.
“The Lady Pirates started out a little sluggish in the first quarter only scoring three points, but continued to fight throughout the game. Scoring eighteen in the second quarter, fourteen in the third quarter, and sixteen in the fourth,” reported Coach Mason. Lytle would be short just a handful of baskets at 51-59 in their first district loss of the season.
Leading Scores, Campbele Aldridge 14 pts, Nicole Godines 11 pts , Sophia Hutton 11 pts, Izzy Guerrero 6 pts, Diaz 5 pts.
Now 4-1 in district and 8-6 overall, the JV Lady Pirates are scheduled to play in Cotulla Friday and at home against Jourdanton on January 26th.
