JV Lady Pirates finish 8-1

In their final week of basketball, the JV Lady Pirates made sure to finish with a set of wins. They faced Poteet on February 2nd and Karnes City on February 5th. This powerful team ended their season 12-6 overall and 8-1 in district.
Last Tuesday the JV Lady Pirates picked up their 7th district win against Poteet at 45-16. It was all Lytle basketball from the first whistle to the last.
Playing “tough defense, and scoring the basketball at will. First quarter was an offensive explosion scoring 20 pts. Defense held tight only allowing 2 pts in the 1st quarter and 11 overall in the first half,” said Coah Ivan Mason
Campbele Aldridge 10 points, Kaylee Diaz 8 points, Sophia Hutton 7 points, Jessica Mata 6 points, Daphine Perez 6 points, Nicole Godines 4 points.
In their final game on Friday, the JV Lady Pirates, “competed in their last district contest of the year vs Karnes City. Against a tough KC team Defense once again held tight only allowing eleven points in the first half and twenty six points overall. Lady Pirates pick up the big win 41-26! And with that win the Pirates share the JV district title with Poth. Both teams only having one district loss. Great accomplishment by these young ladies,” said Coach Mason.

Proud of how well his team did, Coach Mason said “It was an absolute joy coaching these young ladies. Coach Tilley, Coach Wilson and myself are very proud of this group and all the hard work they had put in. Our goal was just to be better than yesterday. Thank you to all the custodial staff that disinfected gyms and locker rooms, helping keeping us safe. You guys are the real MVP!”
