Warhorses move up to 3rd

The Varsity Warhorses had a great week, adding two district wins; the boys are now 3-3 in district and 9-13 overall. As of Friday they sit in 3rd in district behind Somerset (7-0) and YMLA (4-3) but above Brooks (2-4) and Fox Tech trails at 0-6. They played Brooks last night and their final game is this Friday at Fox Tech.
It was a “huge district win by the guys. Competed really hard and made some big stops and buckets down the stretch in winning time,” said Coach Paul Wells when they played Brooks on February 3rd. Winning 73-65, the Warhorses had to battle back Brooks in the final quarter as Brooks attempted to take the win from them. They earned 12 points off 19 turn overs and had 8 steals plus made 59% of their free throws.

Against YMLA on Friday, the Warhorses took the lead early and fought hard to keep it. YMLA only outscored them in the last quarter but it was too late to take the lead. Devine won 70-59 to bring their district record to 3-3. “The kids put together a really good defensive effort and made some clutch shots throughout the game,” said Coach Wells.
