The Devine Arabians JV Basketball team took 3rd place at the Pearsall Tournament. On Thursday the Arabians beat Natalia 25 to 14 with Cecilia Martinez and Kendall Marek both leading the team with a high of 6 points.
On Saturday the Arabians unfortunately started out with a loss against Medina Valley 53 to 27. Even though it was a tough loss, Kendall Marek led the team with a high of 13 points and grabbed several rebounds and Kadence Yeats finished with 9 points.
The loss to Medina Valley sparked the Arabians energy for their third and final game against Pearsall. The Arabians played very aggressive defense and pressured the ball to force turnovers, grabbed rebounds and handled pressure on the offensive side very well. There were several Arabians that scored against Pearsall, Cecilia Martinez with 8 points, Kendall Marek with 6 points, Joselyn Guajardo with 6 points, Emily Cruz with 5 points, Andrea Rios with 3 points and Rebecca Mares with 1 point. By multiple players scoring, grabbing rebounds and playing defense, the Arabians came out with a victory against Pearsall in overtime winning 29 to 28.
The Devine Arabians JV Basketball team continues to make improvements game by game and they have a lot of potential throughout this season. They will play again December 3rd in Bandera.
