JV Arabians off to 2-1 start

Winning two of their first three games, the JV Arabians are off to a strong start. Coached by Megan Perez, the team of 13 players is ready for the season. Currently the Junior Varsity Arabians are made up of #1 Brooke DuBose, #2 Allyson Taylor, #3 Myla Miles, #4 Kenzie Schneider, #5 Leah Herrera, #6 Isellia Gutierrez, #7 Heidi McLaughlin, #8 Allison Stevens, #10 Kennedy Duncan, #11 Sydnie Harrel, #12 Janae Wofford, #13 Destiny Moralez, and #15 Halle Hagdorn.
In their first game against Randolph, the JV Arabians beat them in two very close matches 26-24 and 25-23. “This was our first game and we struggled with some fundamental skills and nerves getting to some younger players. The girls battled and competed to pull through with a victory,” said Coach Perez.
Imminently after the Randolph game, the Arabians played Pleasanton and lost in three sets, 27-29, 25-19, and 17-25. The team played hard and the back-to-back games were tough this early in the season. “They did a great job about adjusting and correcting some issues and won the second set with style. Fatigue set in the last set and we struggled blocking out fatigue and commotion which caused us to lose the final set.” Coach Perez
Last Tuesday, the JV Arabians beat Uvalde in a quick 2 matches. The practice between the Pleasanton and Uvalde games paid off with scores of 25-13 and 25-14. “We were a little slow and reserved throughout the game but did an excellent job of executing plays and keeping a focused mindset.” Coach Perez
Up next for the JV Arabians is Wimberley on August 28, and Marion on the 31. The Devine Freshman/Junior Varsity Tournament will be September 8. District play starts September 21.
